My grade went to an affordable home complex that was getting renovated. We partnered with a volunteer tree planting service to help make the houses have more vegetation.
What we did is we took busses from our campus to the place that we would be planting the trees and when we got there the people were super nice and explained to us what we would be doing.
We got with a partner and started the proses. First you choose your tree then you start digging then you make sure the tree will fit in the hole and dig more. After that you ruff out all the roots to make sure the trees roots with grow outward and not just strait down. Then we stick the tree in the ground and start filling it back in.
I had such a fun time doing it and it has made me want to do more things like that! Thank you so much for reading!
A few weeks ago we had an author visit his name is Adam Gidwitz he has written very cool children’s books! After the visit I really want to read his books! Some of his books include the series A Tale Dark and Grimm and The Unicorn Rescue Series. One of his more reasint books is The Inquisitors Tale. For that book he went on a year long trip to do his research and he spent a lot of time reading it. He recently wrote a book and published it last month! Thank you so much for reading!
This weekend I went to Virginia Beach for a field hockey tournament. I played five games two on Saturday, two on Sunday, and one on Monday. I had so much fun with all my teammates.

The only part that wasn’t that great was after both our games on Saturday one of my teammates had to go home. On Sunday we found out that another one had a fever and went home early Sunday morning. then on Monday our last game of the weekend our goalie woke up throwing up! But 15 minutes before our game she stoped and got dressed and only let one goal through.
The first to games of the weekend we lost 7-1 then we lost 2-1 so we were a little discouraged. On Sunday we won 3-1 then we one 5-0. On Monday (our last game) we won 4-1 even though we didn’t win all the games we still got 3rd place.

After our games on Sunday after we finished all our games we went to the pool and played Marco, Polo. Right next to the pool there was a really warm shower and we ran back and forth from the shower to the pool.

My dog is named Nickerson and he was born on November 9th, 2016 in Canada. Before he came to live with us he went to a training camp for dogs so that he is well behaved. We got him from a breeder because my sister is allergic to a lot of things so we had to get a dog that was hypoallergenic. All of the pictures that we got of him were in the snow! He LOVES the snow we don’t get very much snow which is not the best considering how happy he gets when is does snow. His favorite thing to do is play with his toys and get lots of rubs. He loves eating chicken and all other meats but he is not super food motivated. When we drop food on the ground and its not anything that he likes he will sniff it and walk away. His most favorite thing to do is go on WALKS! When my dad takes me to school my mom takes him on a walk.

In my LA class we read lots of wisdom tale story’s and we all chose one to make a comic. I chose Fire, Water, Truth, and Falsehood it originated from Africa. I chose this one because I thought it would be super interesting to do one that was not about humans one that I could I could personify. To be honest I also thought that the backgrounds would be pretty simple.
If your wondering what in the world wisdom tales are they are basically a book that has lots of old story’s that give morals and lessons. What we had to do is read the story then write on a docs a moral ,lesson and a short summery.

Chinese is a very hard language to learn. But with our teacher Guo Lao Shi, it is a very amazing learning experience. During all of the hard work we’ve done we have lots of fun. We are very proud of all the work we have done this year!

One big part about the Chinese language is the characters. When learning characters, you have to follow a very specific stroke order. Characters are very specific and very challenging to master, but when we work hard it all pays off. When writing Chinese characters in a traditional form, we use brushes and ink to make calligraphy. When doing calligraphy you have to be super careful by holding the brush right and getting the perfect amount of ink and water. This skill is very challenging to do because when you mess up a little bit the whole character is ruined and have to do the steps all over again perfectly.
One of my favorite things about Chinese class is that we don’t just learn they characters, we learn culture too. Last year, we did a dragon dance and we got to perform it in front of the school. This year we are doing a super fun surprise this year but we will not give it away. During Chinese class we made many delicious foods like dumplings, ice cream, and spicy Ramen.

In our Chinese class we have tests and quizzes very frequently. At the beginning of this year we had a whole review lesion test with about 50-60 words. Then more in the middle of the year we started to have tests on characters and speaking. 我喜欢吃苹果。That means I like eating apples.

Did you know that In 1621 the Plymouth colonists from England and the Wampanoags (Native Americans) had a big feast that is now represented as Thanksgiving? Obviously they didn’t know that Thanksgiving was going to be a huge day that we will celebrate in 2023. But it wasn’t until 1863 that Thanksgiving was represented as a national holiday. Thanksgiving now represents sitting on a big table with friends and family to eat a big meal with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and everything else you can think of.
This year for Thanks Giving I was in Bermuda so we didn’t have a super big celebration. But it was so fun I was with my cousins and grandparent on my moms side. On ThanksGiving day we had a meal with the hole hotel and it was SEVEN corses. But it was super yummy and fun! Just wanted to tell you Bermuda is an island in the Atlantic Ocean. Hope you had a fun Thanks Giving too!
This year I was a Giraffe for Halloween! The not so fun part about Halloween is that the day before halloween I fell and I hit my knee really hard so I could barely walk! But I still went trick or treating and it was super fun. What made it even better was that I was a onesie and it was super cold so I didn’t get cold once.

Halloween dates back to 2,000 years ago the people were called Celts Samhain; it was celebrated in Ireland and the United Kingdom. They celebrated their New year on November 1. This day marked the end of the summer and the beginning of the dark cold winter.
This year I went to a camp in Wyoming. It was such an amazing experience! I got to camp and my mom and I checked in to the camp and by then I was absolutely terrified. I was the first in my cabin to arrive and my councilors were super excited and super kind. I want to say in advance that Kenzie and Katie were such amazing councilors.
Every night we have a campfire and throughout the whole camp your cabin does a campfire! My cabin did different small movies for two characters to go on a date (our councilers) The picture down below is my friends doing the Parent Trap handshake. There was one about a baby who got killed . I was the snack person and the detective for the baby murder. It was probably not the best show but it was super fun for our cabin who was looking forward to it the whole summer.

But my favorite thing of all were all the amazing activities from lapidary to horseback riding a watering hole. There was a craft shop, disco(discovery) where you learn about nature, riflery , they were all super fun! The way you choose your activities is by everyone sitting on a big fence and a funny guy chooses the activity that you want.
There are five different age groups, the youngest are yearlings which is what I was then, a rough rider, a tophand wrangler and trail blazer. I got to go on one backpack and one pack trip. A backpack is a trip where you take a big huge backpack and walk and camp. It was a really cool experience but it was super hard and tiring. A pack trip is you take horses on a trail and we set up a campsite and it was also super amazing and fun but we went on horses. The only not so fun thing was that it was really bad weather.
But the most amazing thing was the Olympics. We had our own Olympics. We split up into four teams themed by Taylor Swift. Reputation, Speak Now, Red, and 1989. There was a greasy watermelon game in the water, there was a relay race with the whole camp, there was a huge soccer game with four goals. My team (reputation) did really bad in the relay race but then we did better in the water sports and the truck pull and we got 2nd place!
Every Sunday we had a rodeo not like ones where there are bulls and sheep and all that but we rode horses. The events were pole bending, barrel racing, slow race and lots more. I did egg and spoon which you basically ride in a circle with an egg balancing on a spoon and once there are about six left you start trotting and last to drop an egg wins. I won first place on my first try against a lot of older people who have done it for a lot longer than me.
This summer we got to read Finding Someplace by Denise Lewis Patrick. The book is about Teresa’s (Reese) birthday and how it got ruined by Hurricane Katrina! I think that this is a very good book.

This is my hero essay
I think Dré is a hero because he is very brave for example in the middle of the storm he came to help Ms. Martine and to find a safe place for Eritrea Knight his knew wife. So he basically saved all four of there lives. Another reason he is a hero is he is a leader. He led everyone upstairs to the attic with a crow bar to brake through the roof to get away from the flooding. He is also very kind because even before the storm he built a shed for Ms.Martine plus, the shed was the only think that wasn’t destroyed. Last but not least he was determined when they were not going to take Ms. Martine to the hospital and lied and said she was his grandmother.
We also got to do a backpack project where we choose what we would put in a backpack if this ever happened to us.
