This year in language arts we made planet books! We had an artist come her name was Peg Gignoux. She was really cool because she makes collage art and she makes it look really good!

We each got to make different ink pictures with leaves! After we did that we needed to fold a big peace of paper into a book.

Once we finished making all the different papers we had for homework writing all of the paragraphs because for a minimum we had to write 7 so we each wrote at least 7 but I wrote 9.

Then we put our paragraphs on the book and we got to choose the color of what the paper is that the words are on.

Hello!

We went to fold a play day hockey tournament recently and I had such a great time!! I played four games in one day my team played up to U14 (under 14) and I even got to play up to U16 (under 16) because they needed subs. Although we lost some of our games it was a great team bonding time and we all had such a fun and amazing time.

I started my day by waking up at 5:45 and and driving about 3 ish hours un til we got their once we got there we met with our team and started warming up, then we had our first game and we lost to a very good team but we didn’t give up next we had another game right after so we were tired by our 1 hour brake after we had our 3rd game and it was then as we were walking Off the field one of the U16 teams was walking on and they wanted us to be subs so me and my friend were like sure! And it was tiring because they were fast and we were playing 15 year olds. Then we had our last game that came immediately after the U16 one, and we lost but we had a great last game. Then I drove home and took a warm shower!

Hi! Recently we went to a planetarium with our whole 6th grade and I had a great time! We were spread out in to 2 groups one group was in the planetarium watching the show while the other group was in a big room with different little shows. They were all super interactive and interesting! It was super duper fun! And it was super cool to learn about space.

In the planetarium we watched a show about what we would need to do to go to mars! And we learned how long the journey is and what it would be like in the space shuttle for that long of a period of time and all the risks in it. And how they need younger people to have interest in it and how a new generation of people would help make the journey happen.

We had a solar eclipse here in North Carolina and at school we saw it together.  The first thing we did was go in to an Assembly to talk about the safety. Then we all ran outside with our glasses to go get snacks and look at the sun! Once we all had snacks we looked at the sun and saw how it looked. We had a 80% eclipse so it was still very light outside. Under the trees there were super cool shadows.

My grade went to an affordable home complex that was getting renovated. We partnered with a volunteer tree planting service to help make the houses have more vegetation.

What we did is we took busses from our campus to the place that we would be planting the trees and when we got there the people were super nice and explained to us what we would be doing.

We got with a partner and started the proses. First you choose your tree then you start digging then you make sure the tree will fit in the hole and dig more. After that you ruff out all the roots to make sure the trees roots with grow outward and not just strait down. Then we stick the tree in the ground and start filling it back in.

I had such a fun time doing it and it has made  me want to do more things like that! Thank you so much for reading!

A few weeks ago we had an author visit his name is Adam Gidwitz he has written very cool children’s books! After the visit I really want to read his books! Some of his books include the series A Tale Dark and Grimm and The Unicorn Rescue Series. One of his more reasint books is The Inquisitors Tale. For that book he went on a year long trip to do his research and he spent a lot of time reading it. He recently wrote a book and published it last month! Thank you so much for reading!

This weekend I went to Virginia Beach for a field hockey tournament. I played five games two on Saturday, two on Sunday, and one on Monday. I had so much fun with all my teammates.

The only part that wasn’t that great was after both our games on Saturday one of my teammates had to go home. On Sunday we found out that another one had a fever and went home early Sunday morning. then on Monday our last game of the weekend our goalie woke up throwing up! But 15 minutes before our game she stoped and got dressed and only let one goal through.

The first to games of the weekend we lost 7-1 then we lost 2-1 so we were a little discouraged. On Sunday we won 3-1 then we one 5-0. On Monday (our last game) we won 4-1 even though we didn’t win all the games we still got 3rd place.

After our games on Sunday after we finished all our games we went to the pool and played Marco, Polo. Right next to the pool there was a really warm shower and we ran back and forth from the shower to the pool.

My dog is named Nickerson and he was born on November 9th, 2016 in Canada.  Before he came to live with us he went to a training camp for dogs so that he is well behaved.  We got him from a breeder because my sister is allergic to a lot of things so we had to get a dog that was hypoallergenic.  All of the pictures that we got of him were in the snow! He LOVES the snow we don’t get very much snow which is not the best considering how happy he gets when is does snow.  His favorite thing to do is play with his toys and get lots of rubs. He loves eating chicken and all other meats but he is not super food motivated. When we drop food on the ground and its not anything that he likes he will sniff it and walk away. His most favorite thing to do is go on WALKS! When my dad takes me to school my mom takes him on a walk.

He is a golden mountain doodle that is a mix of a golden retriever, poodle, and a Bernese Mountain Dog. I hope you enjoyed my post about my dog! Thank you for reading.

In my LA class we read lots of wisdom tale story’s and we all chose one to make a comic. I chose Fire, Water, Truth, and Falsehood it originated from Africa. I chose this one because I thought it would be super interesting to do one that was not about humans one that I could I could  personify. To be honest I also thought that the backgrounds would be pretty simple.

If your wondering what in the world wisdom tales are they are basically a book that has lots of old story’s that give morals and lessons. What we had to do is read the story then write on a docs a moral ,lesson and a short summery.

Chinese is a very hard language to learn. But with our teacher Guo Lao Shi, it is a very amazing learning experience. During all of the hard work we’ve done we have lots of fun. We are very proud of all the work we have done this year!

One big part about the Chinese language is the characters. When learning characters, you have to follow a very specific stroke order. Characters are very specific and very challenging to master, but when we work hard it all pays off.  When writing Chinese characters in a traditional form, we use brushes and ink to make calligraphy. When doing calligraphy you have to be super careful by holding the brush right and getting the perfect amount of ink and water. This skill is very challenging to do because when you mess up a little bit the whole character is ruined and have to do the steps all over again perfectly.

One of my favorite things about Chinese class is that we don’t just learn they characters, we learn culture too. Last year, we did a dragon dance and we got to perform it in front of the school. This year we are doing a super fun surprise this year but we will not give it away. During Chinese class we made many delicious foods like dumplings, ice cream, and spicy Ramen. 

In our Chinese class we have tests and quizzes very frequently. At the beginning of this year we had a whole review lesion test with about 50-60 words. Then more in the middle of the year we started to have tests on characters and speaking. 我喜欢吃苹果。That means I like eating apples.
